Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data 3D Cube Solver handles. In short: the tools work in your browser, and what you enter stays there. To learn which pages and tools people use, we count visits with Google Analytics, as described below.
Data stored in your browser
- Cube states you enter are processed in your browser to compute solutions. They are not sent to our servers. If you copy a share link, the cube is part of that link.
- Timer results are saved in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB) so they are still there next time. They stay on your device.
- Guide progress (the “I can do this step” boxes) is saved in your browser’s local storage.
- Solver tables. The 2x2 solver saves its lookup table in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB) so it starts faster next time. It contains nothing about you.
- Custom sticker colors, if you change them, are saved in your browser’s local storage.
- Camera scan. If you choose to scan your cube, the camera picture is analysed in your browser to read the sticker colors. No image is uploaded or stored, and the camera is switched off when you close the scanner.
You can delete all of this at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. The timer also has a button to delete your times.
Server logs
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We use this only in aggregate and do not use it to identify you.
Visit statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which tools get used, so we know what to improve. It records:
- the page you view and the site that sent you to it;
- your browser, device type, screen size, language and approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address; Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself);
- what you do with the tools, such as pressing Solve, how many moves the solution has, copying a share link, whether a camera scan worked, or finishing a timer solve.
It does not receive the cube you entered (we remove it from the page address first), your times, or any camera image. Google signals are turned off, so these statistics are not linked to a Google account. Google (Google Ireland Limited in Europe, Google LLC elsewhere) processes this data for us and may do so in the United States. It is kept for at most 14 months.
Cookies
For visitors outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site (_ga and _ga_8ECHD4Z1CM) so that it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. They expire after 13 months.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we do not set these cookies. Google then only receives a cookie-free signal that a page was viewed, which is not linked to your earlier visits.
The site sets no other cookies. You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s tracking protection, a content blocker, or Google’s opt-out add-on. If any of this changes, we will update this policy first.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
